Biography

Prof. Dr. Adeel Afzal FRSC studied Chemistry at the University of Vienna (Austria) and earned a Ph.D. degree in 2007. He did his Postdoctorate at the University of Bari (Italy). In Pakistan, he served as Assistant Professor at Quaid-i-Azam University (Islamabad) and COMSATS University Islamabad (Lahore Campus) before moving to Saudi Arabia in 2012, where he taught Chemistry at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and the University of Hafr Al Batin. In 2021, he joined University of the Punjab (Lahore) as a Professor of General & Inorganic Chemistry. Prof. Afzal is admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). He has been inducted in both single-year and career-long lists of the world’s top-2% highly-cited scientists (Elsevier). His research interests include the development of imprinted and functional materials for chemical and biosensors, biomedical diagnostics, environment, and energy-related applications.
