Welcome to the Sensors & Diagnostics Lab!

Sensors & Diagnostics Lab is a specialized facility at the School of Chemistry, University of the Punjab that focuses on the development of smart chemical sensors for a variety of applications and affordable biomedical diagnostics.

In the sensors and diagnostics lab, our research scientists and students use a variety of specialized instruments and techniques to study the behavior of different analytes in solutions and complex mixtures and their interactions with synthetic materials (receptors) and devices. These include acoustic wave sensors, quartz crystal microbalances, screen printed electrodes, electrochemical sensors, potentiostats, impedance analyzers, and surface plasmon resonance systems, among others.

Our research team specializes in the design and synthesis of imprinted and functional materials, characterization, device fabrication, chemical analysis, and (bio)sensing. Applications include the detection and quantification of hazardous chemicals, biomolecules such as proteins and molecular biomarkers for various diseases, and real-time monitoring of targeted analytes in different biological fluids such as serum, saliva, etc.
